I would have to say the problems of women in industrialized more progressive nations dwarf in comparison to those our sisters are facing in third world and non-Democratic societies.The rampant starvation, disease and impoverished conditions of women in many of the African nations is a real travesty. When that is compounded by the rape that is occuring it is difficult to imagine sustaining life much less progressing. In Burao, rape cases have increase drastically and only full loaded pockets win the case thus women right undermine. Women end up destroyed physically and physiologically. |

Hardest hit by Drought in Burao and other parts of Somaliland |

When people try ends to meet, drought is sweeping away the nation. Somaliland is now in the grip of one of the worst droughts to hit the Horn of Africa for decades. A drought is an extended period of months or years when a region faces a deficiency in its water supply.Generally, droughts occur when a region receives consistently below average precipitation. Some parts of Burao have been hit severely. The combination of these two factors threatens to bring a human tragedy on a vast scale. Most part of Burao villages, the area worst affected by a chronic lack of rainfall, where the mainly pastoralist community has watch its animals die in thousands. Ali Mohamed head of Beereto village says ‘my family has moved to the next villages to look for pastures, food and survival for my kids. I watch my livestock dying and loosing my source of income’. Adding ‘haven’t come across this ever’. |
